Tangi flooding affects West Nile-Gulu connectivity

WEST NILE - River Tangi has burst its banks causing flooding at Tangi Junction on Olwiyo-Pakwach road, adjacent Pakwach Bridge has affected connectivity between Arua to Gulu and Gulu to Kampala.

This is the second time the river is bursting its banks in four months with the first one having been in early August.

By press time on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, water levels were still high and teams from the Uganda National Roads Authority were monitoring.

According to a UNRA statement dated November 27, 2024, the authority would 'commence interventions as soon as water levels subside'.



Alternative routes

"Travellers from Kampala to West Nile can still connect uninterrupted through the Paraa-Kisanja Park Junction road," the statement reads.

Motorists from Gulu to West Nile are advised to use the Atiak-Adjumani route and cross using the Laropi Ferry to reach Moyo and surrounding areas.

Motorists to Gulu, Lira, Kitgum and beyond are advised to use Masindi Port ferry through Rwenkunye off Kampala—Gulu highway during this time.
