The staff of Kokorio health Centre-II in Katakwi district have been arrested after the theft of an assortment of government human drugs worth millions of shillings.

Kokorio health Centre-II, which is in the Kapujan sub-county, was broken into by unknown thieves on Saturday night, but the matter was reported to the Police on Monday, April 15, 2024.

Kapujan sub-county LC3 chairperson Michael Iremaut identified some of the stolen drugs as 240 packs of Coartem (7,200 doses), 22 tins of amoxicillin, and several Rapid Diagnostic Test kits (RDTs).

He said four health workers including the two enrolled nurses, an in-charge, and a cleaner were on Tuesday taken to Toroma Police Station to record statements.

Katakwi RDC Godfrey Katamba confirmed that the facility staff were arrested to help them with investigations.




While presiding over the graduation of 469 students who completed level one certificate courses in vocational training at the Teso Zonal Presidential Industrial Hub in Soroti city on Tuesday, Vice-President Jessica Alupo told RDCs in the region to fight the theft of drugs in the Government health facilities.
