The Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has contributed sh10m to support the family of Bashir Kalema and Sofia Kayaga who were blessed with a set of triplets last year.

Triplets are three children born at the same time to the same mother. The family has five children in total.

Among was informed about the financial challenge the family was faced with in raising the triplets.

She held a meeting with the family at Parliament on Thursday, January 25, 2024. The meeting was attended by former minister and MP Maria Matembe and other Members of Parliament who also vowed to support the family.

Among noted that there is a need for community welfare.

She expressed concern for the struggling family and indicated the need for their immediate assistance.

The sh10m according to Among is intended to alleviate the financial burden of the family, offering them an opportunity to create a sustainable source of income.

“This small token is to empower you to establish a business that will provide a stable environment for the upbringing of the triplets,” Among said.

The Speaker highlighted the importance of community support and solidarity in times of need.

She called upon other leaders to help those in need in their communities.
