By a quarter past midday, the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, had arrived at Kololo Grounds to attend the 10th edition of the Harvest Money Expo.
She first met the operators of Engineering Solutions (ENGSOL), whom she encouraged to work closely with the Government to boost farming on a large scale.
ENGSOL is one of the importers of heavy machinery such as tractors and combine harvesters, aimed at promoting mechanised agriculture.

While touring different stalls, Speaker Among said Uganda stands out as one of the most enterprising countries, given that the majority of the youth are business-oriented. She promised that the Government is ready to partner with anyone willing to bring forward new ideas for development.
“Bring everybody together so that we can create a one-stop centre where you can get what you need. If you want a tractor, a machine or anything to help with agricultural productivity, you get it here. I thank you for representing Government very well,” she said.
She said anyone promoting large-scale agriculture in Uganda is working on behalf of the country and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. According to her, the President has encouraged everyone to protect the gains that will keep the country steady and stable.
“That is what I have always told people, let us protect the gains. The gains we are talking about are those that bring everybody to work together. If you feel you have been sidelined, we will look into it. We must have appreciation and healthy competition,” she said.

The Speaker encouraged Ugandans to embrace Buy Uganda, Build Uganda (BUBU), saying this would help local investors grow and become leading global suppliers in their respective fields.
“We must also apply BUBU, where we support our local investors. Government will support you,” she said.
The Expo is sponsored by Tunga Nutrition, Engineering Solutions, Uganda Development Corporation, aBi Development, Pearl Bank, Heifer International and Roke Telkom, the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), as well as the Uganda revenue Authority (URA). Entrance is sh10,000 for attendance and an additional sh10,000 for training.
