The murder case of Joan Faith Apio, a former pupil of Jozan Nursery Primary School in Soroti city was Thursday (April 17) adjourned due to the lack of Zoom equipment for presenting the suspects in court.

The available equipment, according to the trial magistrate Apollo Kibirige Kasujja, was shared by the High Court which at the time was handling criminal sessions.

“For that reason, I adjourned this case to May 2 for mention, and the suspects further remanded,Kibirige told the court.

Apio's body was found dumped inside the school latrine with her throat slit on February 05, two days after the opening of the first term.

The eight suspects charged with the murder of Apio are being remanded at different prisons.

They include school director Joseph Okedi, Suzan Vivian Ariokot, the wife of Okedi, James Edoket, the school headmaster and John Bosco Obotol, the police officer who also doubles as the brother of Okedi.

Others are Osula Adongo, the school matron, Valentin Opio, the school cook, and two juveniles, one being the daughter of Okedi.

Relatedly, the Soroti city woman MP with 12 others charged with four counts of arson of Jozan Nursery and Primary School, malicious damage, breaking into the school, inciting violence and theft also appeared in court on Thursday.

They were further remanded due to the absence of the trial magistrate Hilda Bakanasa and the state.
