A viral photo of Kitgum woman MP Lillian Aber wearing military camouflage has raised a lot of concerns as to how she acquired the fatigues similar to the combat uniform of the national army - Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF).

Four different photos showing the legislator in military fatigues on Monday, February 5th, appeared prominently on her X handle, formerly Twitter.

"I flagged of the cleaning exercise by our men and women in uniform as a pre-event ahead of Terehe Sita celebrations due for tomorrow 6th of February 2024, in Kitgum District. Join us in Kitgum as we celebrate the heroes, those who put their own lives on the forefront so that you can sleep peacefully. Thank you, team MK movement and the market vendors, for joining this exercise," read the caption that accompanied the pictures.

By Tuesday evening, the post had been viewed 5,590 times. It also attracted a lot of debate.

“Section 164 UPDF act: keyword “without authority” a person may wear it when authorized to. This is for those attacking Aber without logic,” reads a post on the X by RCC Masaka city Hudu Hussein.

UPDF has since revealed that a soldier whose name was not revealed had been arrested for giving Aber the uniform.

"We contacted the MP, and she has since apologised. Meanwhile, we launched investigations, and the soldier who gave her the uniform has been arrested," UPDF spokesperson Brigadier Gen. Felix Kulayigye told journalists during an interview at Bugweri district headquarters located in Busesa.

Kulayigye was one of the masters of ceremonies at the UPDF 43rd Tarehe Sita anniversary celebrations in Busesa.
