Mudong said a key suspect involved in coordinating the transportation of the stolen cattle using trucks remains at large. He has been identified as Denis alias “Sebabanda”, and efforts to trace and apprehend him are actively ongoing, he stated.
Recovery operation
Mudong noted that the stolen cattle were intercepted on February 13, 2026, by security forces at Ajok village, Bana parish, Lakang subcounty, Amuru district, as the suspects attempted to cross the River Nile with the animals.
“So far, 84 head of cattle have been recovered, while efforts to recover the remaining 21 are in place,” he noted.
Police said investigations are still ongoing.
The arrests and recovery come amid police reports that livestock theft across the country is being coordinated by a criminal gang operating in different regions.
