Police in Apac are investigating a violent nighttime attack that left seven students of Apac Seed Secondary School injured after they were assaulted by a group of unknown assailants armed with machetes and knives.
The incident occurred at around 10:00 pm on April 5, 2026, when a suspected intruder was reportedly spotted near the girls’ dormitory.
According to preliminary findings, male students attempted to identify the individual, who fled by jumping over the school fence.
In a statement, North Kyoga Region Police spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema said one of the students who pursued the suspect was ambushed and seriously injured.
According to Okema, the victim raised an alarm, prompting six other students to rush to his rescue, but they were confronted by a larger group of approximately 15 attackers armed with pangas.
During the confrontation, all seven students sustained injuries, with three reported to have suffered severe wounds to the head, neck, hands, and ribs.
Police officers from Apac Central Police Station responded swiftly and transported six of the injured students to Apac Main Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Okema added that a joint team, including operational personnel and a K9 unit, has since revisited the scene to aid investigations.
Some of the victims reportedly indicated they could identify their attackers, a development police say could be crucial in the ongoing probe.
