A security guard attached to Gibeon Security Systems has been remanded to prison over the alleged murder of Kampala-based socialite and TikToker Diana Namulinde, popularly known as Diana Skyz.

Marvin Webisa, 22, appeared before City Hall Court Senior Principal Magistrate Grade One Nicholas Aisu on Thursday (February 12), who read to him charges of rape contrary to Sections 110 and 111 of the Penal Code Act, Cap 128, and murder contrary to Sections 171 and 172 of the Penal Code Act, Cap 128.

Webisa also faces a charge of aggravated robbery contrary to Sections 266 and 267(2) of the Penal Code Act, Cap 128.

However, the magistrate did not allow the accused to plead to the charges, stating that the court does not have the jurisdiction to try the case.

Senior state prosecutor Mercy Yamangusho informed the court that investigations into the matter are complete and asked the court to adjourn the case for mention.

The magistrate subsequently remanded the accused to Luzira Prison until March 3, 2026, when the case will be mentioned.

The prosecution alleges that Webisa and others, still at large, on February 4, 2026, at Kyanja Kwata zone in Kampala district, unlawfully had carnal knowledge of Namulinde without her consent.

It is further alleged that on the same date and at the same location, the accused and others still at large, with malice aforethought, unlawfully murdered Namulinde.

Court documents further indicate that Webisa and others still at large, on February 4, 2026, at Kyanja Kwata zone, robbed Namulinde of her iPhone 17 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy A15, power bank, Earpods, one black laptop bag, nineteen small handbags in different colours, one white suitcase, one brown suitcase, seven T-shirts, two pairs of canvas shoes, four pairs of flat shoes, eleven pairs of high-heeled shoes, two pairs of boots and one pair of purple shoes, all valued at approximately sh18.6m.

It is alleged that at or immediately before or after the robbery, the accused murdered Namulinde.

Background

According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the deceased’s body was found inside her rented apartment in Kwata zone, Kawempe Division.

Police said Namulinde was a businesswoman, socialite and social media content creator who was living alone in an apartment in the Kyanja suburb.

Her body was reportedly discovered by friends who had gone to check on her and found the apartment door wide open.

Police said a security guard attached to the premises was among three suspects arrested after he was allegedly found in possession of items suspected to have been stolen from the deceased’s apartment.
