Security arrest notorious armed cattle raider in Kaabong

Security agencies have arrested a suspected notorious armed cattle raider believed to be a commander of armed warriors in Kaabong district.

Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma, speaking on Monday, April 20, 2026, during a press briefing at the Police Headquarters in Naguru, said the suspect was arrested
on April 17, 2026, at around 5:00 pm, following intelligence reports.

“The suspect was reportedly taking waragi at Napeikondo trading centre when security agencies moved in,” Kituuma said.

The operation was conducted jointly by the Anti-Stock Theft Unit of the Police and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces.

Three suspects were arrested, including the alleged ringleader, believed to be involved in multiple cattle rustling incidents in the area.

Kituuma said the suspects have since been handed over to the UPDF for further management and interrogation.

He noted that the arrest is expected to yield critical intelligence and lead to major breakthroughs in dismantling cattle rustling networks in the Karamoja sub-region.
