Rwenzururu king seeks medical treatment abroad, coronation anniversary postponed

Rwenzururu King Chrles Wesley Mumbere has today, October 13, 2025, flown to Turkey for medical treatment.
Mumbere travelled in the company of his wife, Nyabaghole (Queen) Agnes Ithungu Asimawe, personal assistant David Bradford Nguru and an aide.
As a result of these developments, the kingdom has deferred its annual October 19 coronation anniversary, according to kingdom spokesperson Geofrey Kanyonyi.

Government funding
According to Mumbere's personal assistant, David Bradford Nguru, State House will fully cover medical expenses as determined by an undisclosed hospital abroad, as well as full-board expenses to the king and his entourage.
“We express our heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Uganda for facilitating this important visit that will enable our beloved King to receive the care he needs,” Kanyonyi said.
