GOMBE
Gombe residents in Wakiso district have called on Police to fight the increasing insecurity in their area.
This followed the death of one Yusuf Ndaula, who was killed and his body dumped in a trench recently.
The residents were unable to identify the body until Ndaula’s national identity card was retrieved from his wallet, which enabled them to know who he was.
However, the area defence secretary, Patrick Ssekatawa, said Ndaula was not a resident of the area. According to the national identity card, he was a resident of Nakulabye in Kampala.
Ssekatawa pointed out that they are no longer carrying out night patrols since curfew is still in force and all the security matters were left to the Police.
To his dismay, Police mainly focus on the main road at night as people who live far away suffer the wrath of criminals.
According to Ramathan Ntale, another resident of Gombe village, Ndaula’s body seemed to have been brough to the area since they did not hear noise or struggle at night.
Wakiso Police delayed to pick Ndaula’s body because they had gone to Namusera, where another murder took place during the same night.
Gombe and Namusera are close to each other.
