Prime suspect in murder of Soroti instructor remanded

SOROTI - The Soroti Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded Jackline Amuge, the prime suspect in the murder of Moses Ejou, an instructor at Soroti Vocational Training Institute.

Amuge appeared before Chief Magistrate Hilda Bakansa Walaga on May 12, 2025, where she was formally charged with murder. She pleaded not guilty.

According to the prosecution, led by Paul Okello, Amuge and others still at large are accused of killing Ejou during the night of April 22-23, 2025, in Nakatunya ward, Soroti city.

Ejou, who taught in the Department of Automotives and served as patron of the Scouts Club at the institute, was found dead with severe head injuries caused by a sharp object. His body had reportedly been dumped along a street in Nakatunya.

Police say investigations are ongoing, and a manhunt is underway for other suspects believed to be linked to the brutal killing.
