A significant development has emerged in the investigation of the tragic murder of John Natamba, a 24-year-old phone shop attendant, as police announce the arrest of a prime suspect.

Buluhan Lubowa has been apprehended by Police in connection with the heinous crime that sent shockwaves through the community.

The incident unfolded last month in Bunangwe cell, Muwebwa ward, Northern Division of Kamuli Municipality, according to Micheal Kasadha, the regional spokesperson for Busoga North, who reiterated the dedication of law enforcement to apprehending all individuals involved in the heinous crime as the pursuit of justice.

According to Kasadha, preliminary inquiries indicated that on February 12, 2024, while making his way home, Ntambi fell victim to a brutal assault by unidentified assailants armed with pangas. He was robbed and fatally wounded in the attack, leaving residents reeling from the senseless violence.

He added that the crime scene drew the attention of the district criminal investigation officers and a team of detectives, who meticulously combed the area for clues.

"With the aid of a tracking dog, attention was drawn to the residences of Lubowa and Kibogo, both residents of Bunangwe Cell. Lubowa had fled the home by the time police got there" he said.

Despite initially evading capture, Police achieved a breakthrough in the early hours of Saturday morning, as Lubowa was apprehended from a hideout in Kalagi-Kiso village, Nakanyonzi parish, Nakifuma Town Council, located in Mukono district.

According to Kasadha, in the wake of these troubling incidents, law enforcement agencies have intensified operations within Kamuli Municipality to root out criminal elements.

Notably, several suspects have been brought before the courts on charges related to drug possession as part of ongoing efforts to maintain public safety.
