Police in Luuka district have registered a tragic electrocution incident that resulted in the death of two adult women.

Police have since commenced investigations into the incident, which occurred on December 27, 2025, at Bulanga Estate zone, Bulanga town council, Luuka district.

Busoga North police spokesperson Samson Lubega told New Vision on Saturday that the deceased were identified as Namaganda Nasaabu, a 70-year-old woman, and Zakiya Nabirye, a 26-year-old housewife who was pregnant at the time of the incident.

According to preliminary findings, the incident occurred while the two women were carrying out their routine household activities at their residence in Bulanga Estate zone. Police suspect the electrocution resulted from an illegal electricity connection within the house.

“The victims were found electrocuted inside their home. To our reports, relatives to the deceased persons reportedly removed the bodies from the immediate scene before police arrival,” Lubega said.

He added that arrangements are underway for a medical officer to examine the bodies to establish the exact cause of death, as investigations continue in collaboration with the relevant electricity authorities.

“We strongly warn members of the public against illegal electricity connections, which pose serious risks including electrocution, fire outbreaks and loss of life,” he cautioned.

Lubega urged the public to ensure that all electrical installations are carried out by qualified and licensed technicians.

He also appealed to residents to remain calm as police complete their inquiries, adding that they should report any fallen or exposed power lines immediately.

“Avoid tampering with power lines, meters or wiring, promptly report suspected illegal connections to authorities or electricity service providers,” he warned.
