Customers along the Entebbe service corridor have been advised to use the available water sparingly following a disruption in supply.
This comes after the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), on Thursday (March 19), announced an interruption in water supply along Entebbe Road due to a power failure affecting water production and supply schedules at Entebbe Water Works.
“The management of NWSC wishes to inform its valued customers and the general public that the current water supply interruption along Entebbe Road is due to a power failure affecting water production and supply schedules at Entebbe Water Works,” NWSC said on Thursday.
NWSC said the areas affected include Kigungu, Bugonga, Kitooro, Nakiwogo, Nsamizi, Entebbe Town Centre, Nakasamba, Lunyo, Busambaga, Manyago, Katabi, Abaita Ababiri, Bunono, Kabale, Bubuli, Nkumba, Kasenyi, Lyamutundwe, Mapala, Kitala, Garuga Road, Buzi, Wamala, Ziru, Sisa, Kawuku, Bwerenga, Bugiri, Namulanda, Bwebaja, Akright City, Kitende, Sekiwunga, Makandwa, Nakigalala, Dewe, Lutembe, Janyi, Bweya, Bulonde and surrounding areas where water had been shut off to allow for emergency repairs.
NWSC said the estimated time for repairs has not yet been defined.
“It's a complex job that requires excavating, uprooting, and reinstalling a new specialised heavy-duty power cable,” NWSC's manager of marketing and digital communications said.
“Customers are therefore advised to use the available water sparingly. All inconveniences are highly regretted,” Kasenge added.
