Police team sets off for EAPCO games in Kigali

At least 145 police officers and athletes have departed for Kigali, Rwanda, to take part in the East African Police Chiefs Organisation (EAPCO) games.

This is the fourth edition of EAPCO, which had been disrupted by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While flagging off the team at the Police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala today morning (March 19, 2023), Uganda Police Force (UPF) head of sports assistant commissioner of Police Abu Kalule said the team was in good shape and ready to compete favourably.

“The officers are well-prepared and I’m sure they will compete favourably. They have been training and now, this is the time to prove their worth,” he said.

The officers are to participate in several disciplines, including judo, boxing, athletics, netball, handball, darts, karate and range.

Kalule urged the team to exhibit high levels of disciple and professionalism as they are not only representing the force, but also carrying the national flag.

The games are to run from March 19-28.

 

The event is aimed at enhancing regional corporation, promoting talent and sharing experiences among regional police forces.
