Police in the East Kyoga Region are investigating the disappearance of a 41-year-old man, Yusuf Olupot, a resident of Akisim Village, Apuuton Parish, Toroma subcounty in Katakwi district.
According to reports, Olupot was last seen on May 5, 2026, at around 4:00 pm when he left home to attend a social gathering in Molonyang village. Witnesses said he was riding a bicycle at the time and was last seen heading towards the event that evening.
Since then, neither Olupot nor his bicycle has been seen.
The matter was officially reported to Toroma Police Station on May 8, 2026, prompting investigations into the disappearance.
East Kyoga Region Police spokesperson Ibrahim Saiga confirmed that officers have visited the area and are interviewing residents who may have seen or interacted with Olupot before he disappeared.
Police said no conclusive leads have yet been established, but investigations remain ongoing.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with investigators, warning against speculation or any actions that could interfere with the search. Residents with information regarding Olupot’s whereabouts have been encouraged to report to the nearest police station.
The case remains under active investigation by East Kyoga Region Police in coordination with local authorities in Katakwi district.
