Nakaseke district Police have successfully recovered two young girls who were kidnapped by a male domestic worker in Kirangazi, Ngoma sub-county.

The victims: Phionah Tusingwire, 4, and Patience Tarindeka, 5, are both pupils of Apex Model Primary School and reside at the specified address.

The abduction occurred on March 1, 2024, at approximately 10:00 am.

Preliminary investigations indicate that on the same day, at about 7:00 am, the suspect, Sande, who worked as a casual labourer, took the children to school on a motorcycle as usual but failed to return.

In a statement issued today on March 4, 2024, regarding a concerning incident, Savana Police region spokesperson Sam Twiineamazima says the mother of the victims sent her elder son to school to check but unfortunately, he discovered that the children and the casual worker were all missing.

The matter was promptly reported to Kirangazi Police Station, and the Nakaseke Police, which swiftly responded by visiting the scene of the crime and initiating an immediate search for the victims and the motorcycle.

Twiineamazima said after kidnapping the children, the suspect began demanding a ransom of shillings 35 million from the victims' father over the phone.

He was using telephone numbers 0787479887 and 0785829760.

“Using the police sophisticated technology tracking coordinates, the suspect was located in Kiboga district and thereafter moved to Kyankwanzi,” he added.

Twiineamazima observed that due to the relentless pursuit by the Police tracking team and the vigilance of the community members, the suspect ultimately deserted the children near the Kaabale Bridge, which acts as a boundary between Kyankwanzi and Nakaseke districts.

“The victims were recovered from this point on 02/03/2024. A medical examination was carried out on the victims at Ngoma Health Centre IV and the results showed no signs of sexual harassment,” he added.

He also noted that the red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with registration number UFB 009B, was found a short distance from where the victims were discovered.

The children have now been reunited with their family, while the police are actively pursuing the suspect.
