In a tragic turn of events, the territorial Police in Busoga North and Kamuli, are intensifying efforts to apprehend three suspects implicated in the revenge killing of the LCII chairperson of Lulyambuzi parish, Wankole sub-county in Kamuli District.

The victim, identified as Edward Muyagwe, aged 47, met a grim fate allegedly at the hands of Anthony Mugude from Bugobi village, Joseph Inside, a notorious criminal also from Bugobi village, and Yakub Mwana from Buwala LCI in Luuka District.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said the fatal incident unfolded on January 27, 2024, around 9:30 pm, when Mwana was observed surveilling the victim near his residence while communicating on his phone from a motorcycle.

Coincidentally, Muyagwe left his home to escort a friend, Batambuzi of Bugobi "B" village, who had earlier visited him.

According to Enanga, after the trip, on his way back home, he stopped at a nearby shop to purchase items for his children.

"It was during this return journey that the suspects attacked him, inflicting a serious wound to his neck. Despite managing to run back home while bleeding profusely, Muyagwe succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a clinic at Bubale Trading Centre," Enanga said.

He added: “The suspects harboured a vendetta against the victim, stemming from his testimony against them in a case involving the theft of cattle in Lulyambuzi.”

"The act, displaying a disregard for the rule of law, highlights a pattern of recidivism on the part of the suspects," Enanga said.
