The Police in Kiboga district have detained a witch doctor believed to be involved in a suspected ritual killing of two children.

The victims have been identified as two-year-old Esther Nakasumba and five-year-old Sylvia Nantongo.

The suspect, Sulaiman Sentongo, a resident of Kasenene village, was arrested with the assistance of a sniffer dog and is currently in custody at Kiboga Police Station.

His arrest came after the victim's mother, Rebecca Nakate from Magi village, Kapeke sub-county on April 3, 2024, reported a case of her missing children.

According to Wamala Police region spokesperson Racheal Kawala, the mother took the two children to the garden in the morning and later sent them back home for lunch at about midday.

However, when she returned home, she was shocked to find them missing, prompting her to report the matter to the Police.

During the search, she said a headless body part of a girl was discovered at Kyato on the Kiboga highway at approximately 7:30 am.

It was later confirmed to be that of Esther Nakasumba.

Underneath the body, Police recovered a piece of paper, providing directions to where the other body parts were dumped.

Following these directions, a team of the scene of crime officers and the district Police commander (DPC) found two heads buried in burnt bricks at Kasenene village.

To aid in the investigation, a sniffer dog was deployed, which led the police to the arrest of Sentongo, the witch doctor.

During the search of the suspect's shrine, the Police recovered several exhibits, which Kawala said would be used in investigations.

She emphasized the importance of parents taking extra precautions to protect their children from criminals who target them for abduction.
