According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala, the arrests follow a case of motorcycle theft reported on April 13, 2026, at about 8:00 pm, involving motorcycle registration number UMA 594BT.
She explained that the motorcycle was stolen from a boda boda rider, a resident of Nalya Nansesa village, Lugyo parish, Muduuma sub-county in Mpigi district, a neighbouring district to Wakiso.
On April 14, 2026, an intelligence-led operation led by the Wakiso Police commander for operations, Benard Ogang, led to the arrest of the suspects in Kikaaya village, Ssumbwe parish, Wakiso district.
According to Kawala, the operation also led to the recovery of the stolen motorcycle, along with three other suspected stolen motorcycles, namely UEW 155H, UEK 013F and UER 546H, all Bajaj Boxer models.
“One of the suspects, welder Ashim Bukenya, was found attempting to remove the number plate from motorcycle UMA 594BT, allegedly with the intention of replacing it with another,” Kawala added.
She added that the suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
