Police in the Kampala Metropolitan Area have intensified operations targeting criminal gangs, drug users, and public nuisance spots, arresting dozens of suspects in coordinated night crackdowns.

Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said the operations were conducted from Saturday, November 8, 2025, to today, Sunday, across all three policing regions, KMP North, East, and South, aimed at restoring public safety and curbing rising cases of drug abuse and night robberies.

In Kakiri Division (KMP North), 21 suspects were arrested in a night swoop covering Kikubampanga, Kakiri town, and Bukerekere village. Most were found loitering late at night, gambling, or gathered in areas notorious for opium smoking. They are detained at Kakiri Police Station pending screening and court action.

In Matugga Division, police rescued a young woman who had been assaulted and nearly raped by three men. The suspects, Nathan Emagu, James Obongo, and Collins Oterero, were apprehended and remain in custody as investigations continue.

Elsewhere in KMP East, operations in Kireka Railways, Kitifumba, Kiwologoma, and along the Kito–Mamerito road led to the arrest of 20 suspects.

Police recovered suspected cocaine and marijuana from the scenes, and the suspects are being charged with unlawful possession of narcotic drugs.

In Mukono Division, six suspects were arrested in Kisoga–Ntenjeru town council from a blackspot where criminals habitually smoke marijuana and ambush pedestrians. The suspects were found with narcotic substances and are being processed for court.

In KMP South (Entebbe Division), six suspects were arrested during a night operation in Nakawuka, targeting blackspots in Nsaggu, Nkungulutale, and Munkabira, known for aggravated robberies and theft.

Owoyesigyire said police will sustain such operations to deter criminal activity and enhance community safety across the Kampala Metropolitan Area.
