President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has revealed that Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja’s appointment to her current role was based on her diligence and effective work ethic.
Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony hosted by Nabbanja in Kakumiro district on Saturday, Museveni praised her for her commitment to service, saying her work methods aligned with the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) principles of collective decision-making and mission clarity.
President Museveni was in Kakumiro to join the Prime Minister, who also serves as the Woman Member of Parliament for the district, in a celebration of her political journey and development achievements.
He used the occasion to promote commercial agriculture and reiterate the importance of peace and security in Uganda.
Upon arrival, the President was received by the Prime Minister and local leaders before embarking on a tour of the Kakumiro Model Training and Skilling Agricultural Innovations Farm. The facility, championed by Nabbanja, is designed to promote commercial agriculture among rural communities.

Prime Minister Robina Nabanjja shows President Museveni part of her poultry farm when he visited her farm in Kakumiro town on Saturday.
Following the farm tour, Museveni commissioned Hotel Classic Kakumiro, a newly established hospitality facility expected to boost tourism and support the local economy.
He then proceeded to the Prime Minister’s residence before addressing a large public rally.
In his address, President Museveni emphasised the importance of commercial agriculture as a tool for poverty eradication.
He reiterated the benefits of the Four-Acre Model, a strategy he has consistently promoted to help families with limited land adopt sustainable farming practices.
“You can change the situation of your lives by involving yourself in agriculture and dairy. This is what I have all along been telling you, especially those who have up to four acres of land. You can use them following the four-acre model, and the rest will copy,” the President said.
He further explained that he appointed Nabbanja to her current role due to her diligence and effective work ethic.
“The reason why some people fail is because they don't have the correct work methods. If you don't know how to vet your working methods, you find that even the smallest mistake makes you fail,” he said.
“The NRA/M together with the army, we had the time to perfect both the mission and work methods and always to have collective decision making.”
President Museveni also assured residents of Bunyoro and Ugandans at large of continued peace and security.
He credited the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) for maintaining professionalism and readiness to neutralise any threats to national stability.
“There will be no war here because the UPDF is able to crush anybody who tries to bring war, but also peace has brought in law and order,” he said.
During her address, Prime Minister Nabbanja thanked the President for the trust he placed in her when appointing her as Uganda’s first female Prime Minister in 2021.
“Your Excellency, I want to thank you on behalf of the people of Bunyoro for appointing me as the first ever female Prime Minister in Uganda,” she said.
“Your Excellency, I started politics in 1998 as a district councillor. In 2001, you appointed me as Deputy RDC for Pallisa, and you later elevated me to full RDC. In 2011, I was elected as MP and since then I have never looked back. And all this is because of you. Your Excellency, the President, you are my hero. I can say that all that I have is because of you.”
Nabbanja also expressed her appreciation for the creation of Kakumiro district, which was carved out of Kibaale district under Museveni’s leadership, a move she said has improved service delivery.
ICT and national guidance minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi commended the President for initiating development projects in Kakumiro and across the Bunyoro sub-region.
He also urged residents to continue supporting President Museveni and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) for continued progress.
The ceremony was attended by several government ministers, Members of Parliament, and other dignitaries.
