Kansai Plascon Uganda has donated paint worth sh25m to refurbish the Naguru Reception Centre, a child protection facility that provides temporary shelter and rehabilitation for vulnerable children.

The initiative, executed in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Kololo, reflects a shared commitment to transforming environments that nurture the most vulnerable members of society.

At a vibrant handover ceremony held at the Naguru Reception Centre, representatives from Plascon, Rotary, and the centre itself gathered to celebrate the milestone.

Leading the Plascon team was Managing Director Santosh Gumte, who underlined the company’s philosophy that colour is more than aesthetic but transformative.

“At Kansai Plascon, we believe colour holds the power to uplift, restore, and inspire. This is not just a paint donation; it’s a commitment to dignity, healing, and hope. Supporting institutions like Naguru Reception Centre is core to our mission of creating long-term social value,” said Gumte.

The paint will be used to restore key facilities within the centre, many of which have deteriorated due to years of underfunding and overuse.

The refreshed environment is expected to uplift the spirits of the children and staff alike.

Esther Nyamahunge, the Probation and Welfare Officer at the centre, welcomed the donation with gratitude.

“Our facilities have been in urgent need of refurbishment. This support from Kansai Plascon couldn’t have come at a better time. It will enhance not just the physical space, but the emotional well-being and morale of the children we serve,” she said.

The Rotary Club of Kololo, known for its sustained support to the centre over the years, echoed similar sentiments.

Co-founder Charles Turyamureeba remarked,“This collaboration exemplifies what can be achieved when purpose-driven organisations unite. The children at Naguru Reception Centre matter to us, and this partnership with Kansai Plascon reflects our collective resolve to leave no one behind.”

Following the handover, the Plascon team made a courtesy visit to the Interpol Headquarters in Kampala, where they were received by Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Joseph Obwona, Director of Interpol.

The visit included a tour of recently painted sections of the Interpol facility, works also carried out using Plascon products.

“Our engagement with institutions like the Uganda Police Force speaks to our broader national commitment. A well-maintained workspace is not a luxury; it’s a catalyst for efficiency and pride,”  Gumte noted.

This dual engagement aligns with Kansai Plascon’s overarching Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, which spans education, healthcare, institutional support, and community upliftment.
