MUSEVENI | ENDORSED | FOR 2026 | BISAKA

The leader of the Faith of Unity movement Owobusobozi Bisaka on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, and his followers endorsed President Yoweri Museveni as the sole National Resistance Movement (NRM) party presidential candidate for the 2026 general election.

While teaching believers at a crusade on the role of unity among people at Buwarasi sub-county Play Ground in Sironko district, Bisaka said they had decided to support President Museveni because of his contribution towards keeping peace in the country and that for the last 38 years, Uganda has been peaceful.

According to Bisaka, the peace brought by Museveni has helped the Faith of Unity movement to grow.

Freedom under NRM

"Because of that freedom under the NRM government, led by President Museveni, we can express ourselves freely without limitation. The conducive environment has allowed all the faiths in the country to spread the gospel," Bisaka said.

The Sironko crusade is part of the countrywide series that was launched by Bisaka with aim of sensitizing his subject to use the Parish Development Model (PDM) program to fight poverty among the believers and teach people the word of oneness such that disunity ends completely in the whole world.

"We laud the NRM government for maintaining peace for the last 38 years. As Ugandans, we need to use the available peace by tapping into government programs and work hard to transform our Families," Bisaka said.

He also appreciated President Museveni for his new vehicle and other contributions towards the socio-economic development of the faith.

Latest endorsement among many others

Bisaka's endorsement of President Museveni to run as a sole candidate for the party come 2026, is the latest among numerous others that came earlier.

However, Museveni is yet to indicate whether he will contest in the 2026 general election.

The endorsement also comes at a time when other sections of youth within NRM have intensified efforts to front First Son Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba as their presidential candidate come 2026.

Recently, deputy NRM national vice-chairperson Moses Kigongo and internal affairs minister Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafire endorsed the president as a sole candidate for 2026 citing his many achievements in the country and the Great Lakes region.

Party directive falling on deaf ears

Although the NRM secretary-general Richard Todwong, stopped campaigns for various positions within the party, saying that it is not yet time for campaigns, they have just come out of byelections and there is no vacancy at the moment for a possible presidential candidate until the term of office of the current president expires, believers say they have their freedom to express their love for the person they need.

"At the Moment, President Museveni is our presidential candidates come 2026 and we are going to campaign for him," Bisaka said.
