Petroleum company boosts Buliisa school fortunes

BULIISA - The education prospects of pupils at Ngwedo Primary School in Buliisa district have been boosted following a donation of scholastic materials.

The learners have received scholastic materials worth over shillings 800,000. 

These included four new balls, eight boxes of chalk, thirty-two dozen exercise books and eight packs of assorted scholastic materials such as rulers, pencils and erasers. 

This contribution, which was delivered early this week, is expected to enhance the learning experience of the students by equipping them with the necessary tools to excel academically.

Sinopec International Petroleum Service Co Uganda Ltd, through its corporate social responsibility initiative, spearheaded the donation.

This event was graced by Sinopec Uganda management members and key community stakeholders, including Sinopec deputy general manager Qi Ruian, deputy project manager Zhang Zongxin, interface manager Dai Min and social affairs officer Geofrey Matongo.

Matongo said the company is dedicated to the well-being of the project-affected persons (PAPs) in the Tilenga oil and gas project areas of operation.

Also in attendance were the Total-Energies EP Uganda’s Tilenga EPSCC project and community liaison Officer Justine Katusabe, the school management committee and the LC1 chairperson of Ngwedo, all of whom demonstrated their support to Sinopec's cause. 

Ngwedo Primary School headteacher Robert Byaruhanga expressed his appreciation for the continued support provided by Sinopec Petroleum Services Uganda Ltd. 

According to him, the initiative has injected new life into the students' study environment.

Ngwedo Farm Village LC1 chairperson Aduba Mandela Alfred extended his gratitude to Sinopec for providing the scholastic materials to the pupils.
