MPIGI | ACCIDENT

The accident that occurred last night at Kavule Swamp, Mpigi district, along the Kampala-Masaka route, resulted in one person's immediate death and six other people being badly injured.

The accident occurred when a speeding Fuso fighter with the registration number UBE 141A, carrying matooke from Masaka to Kampala, veered off the road and overturned before colliding with a Noah with the registration number UAZ 401k, killing one person inside the Noah.

The spokesman for the traffic police, Faridah Nampiima, stated that the traffic police are currently looking into the accident's primary cause.

However, several motorists attributed the collision to the rain-induced slickness of the road, while others cited the accident's location's short width and steep turn.

While the deceased's body was sent to Mulago hospital Mortuary for a postmortem, the wreckage of the deceased's car was towed to Mpigi Central Police Station.

This is the second catastrophe to occur in the same area of the road this year. On April 27, two people died and numerous others were injured when a truck carrying cooking oil, UAZ 442, collided head-on with a bus, UAW 277 X, at the same location.
