Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anabellah Nyiramahoro, who was recently captured in a viral video campaigning for microfinance state minister Haruna Kasolo, has been transferred from her previous post to the Private Security and Firearms Directorate at the Uganda Police Force headquarters in Naguru.
She will now oversee the registration and licensing of private security companies.
Nyiramahoro has been replaced as the Deputy Regional Police Commander for Greater Masaka by Senior Superintendent of Police Emmanuel Bwambale, who previously served at Arua Central Police Station before the latest nationwide reshuffle.
The transfer follows a review of footage showing the senior officer openly participating in political campaigning, a move that drew wide public attention last week.
During a police press briefing at the Police headquarters in Naguru earlier this month, police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma confirmed that the institution was analysing the video to establish the circumstances under which it was recorded.
“The Uganda Police Force is reviewing the footage that went viral on social media showing one of our senior officers involved in a political campaign. Appropriate action will be taken in line with our disciplinary procedures,” Kituuma said at the briefing.
The development comes amid a broader redeployment exercise by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abas Byakagaba, which has seen more than 160 senior police officers reassigned to new stations and directorates over the weekend.
The transfers affected officers at the rank of Senior Superintendent and above, and were aimed at strengthening command performance, accountability, and service delivery across the country.
Police sources at Naguru said the reshuffle is part of routine administrative reviews intended to “enhance operational efficiency” ahead of the upcoming political season and to ensure that officers maintain professionalism and neutrality in the execution of their duties.
