KAMPALA - The National Unity Platform (NUP) electoral management committee has officially ended the week-long vetting process for its parliamentary flagbearers.
Committee’s chairperson Harriet Chemutai, on Sunday, September 21, 2025, asked the aspirants who will miss the party card to rally behind the candidates the party will choose to carry its flag in the different constituencies across Uganda.
Chemutai, however, said that the committee intends to hold a special vetting exercise tomorrow for the candidates with genuine reasons who were not vetted.
Jinja City woman Member of Parliament Manjeri Kyebakutika said she was confident she would retain the party flag.
The biggest Opposition party, led by Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine, started the vetting of the MP aspirant from Wakiso district, West-Nile and Kigezi region on September 15.
September 16, those from Kampala city, the regions of Acholi and Ankole
• September 17: Greater Masaka, Lango and Tooro
• September 18: Greater Mukongo, Sebie, Teso and Rwenzori
• September 19: Greater Mubende, Bugisu and Bukedi
• September 19: Greater Luweero and Busoga
