The High Court Criminal Division has sentenced notorious land grabber Charles Kyagaba to a total of eight years’ imprisonment on two counts of obtaining money by false pretence, with each count carrying a sentence of four years to be served consecutively.
This was after the state informed the court that Kyagaba, together with others still at large, had for years terrorised residents of Wakiso district, especially in Entebbe, by fraudulently claiming ownership of their properties and selling them to unsuspecting victims.
The sentencing on Monday, May 18, 2026, follows Kyagaba’s conviction by the same court on May 15, 2026, on several charges, including malicious damage to property, fraudulent procurement of land titles, criminal trespass, assault and forcible entry, among others.
Kyagaba was first arrested and arraigned before court by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU), together with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), in 2022, following public outcry and numerous complaints from residents in Entebbe.
