Ngora district inspector of schools, Milton Okuna, is delighted that his district has been chosen to host the 11th edition of Teso Zone Secondary Schools Ball Games.

Okuna said the district is ready for the event with enough security, accommodation, playing field, and health facilities in place.

“I’m so delighted that Serere district has been given the mandate of hosting Teso Zone Secondary Schools' football for boys and girls which will be co-hosted by Ngora Parents School and Ngora Girls SS,” he added.

Okuna expressed his excitement while speaking to the Teso Zone Secondary School’s sports executive who had visited the area for the final inspection ahead of the regional championship slated for March 28 to April 1.

“We are blessed as Ngora district and Teso to be allowed to put together 89 schools with an estimated population of 700 players,“ Okuna said.

The delegation team led by John Robert Osuu, the president of Teso Zone Secondary Schools inspected venues (playgrounds), accommodation facilities, and the secretariat.

“The main objective of this inspection was to confirm the readiness of the host schools to host the games,” Osuu remarked.

The quality of all playing fields and other competition venues, rooms of residence, and security of the participants as well as the officials were put into consideration.

“We are excited that Teso is hosting East Africa. We look forward to hosting a successful event come August," said Gumisiriza.

George Oriokot, the chairperson of Ngora Secondary Schools Sports Association, conveyed appreciation for the USSSA Teso Zone team's visit.

According to Oriokot, Ngora Parents and Ngora Girls are set to create enough fields of football and basketball playing court.

“We appreciate your coming, because this puts us to speed in terms of delivery, As Ngora district, we look at hosting football on the 6 fields by mid-March, the green grass will have surfaced,” Olupot narrates.

The inspection team featured various stakeholders from USSSA, lower local governments, and schools.
