New machine to help in blood transfusion

Muyanja said most people that needed irradiated blood have been taking it to countries such as South Africa, and the United States, among others.

The machine is the only one in East Africa. It uses x-ray radiation to irradiate blood products to prevent a condition called transfusion-associated graft versus host disease (TAGVHD).
