President Yoweri Museveni has asked Ugandans to desist from land fragmentation.
He says subdividing land among children hinders commercial agriculture, which is crucial for Uganda's economy.
Museveni made these remarks on February 25, 2025, while addressing residents during his presidential Parish Development Model (PDM) programme tour to Pamoja mixed farm in Karyango village, Kyangyenyi sub-county in Sheema district.
The farm owned by Honest Abenawe accommodates 25 dairy cattle, 10 acres of banana plantation intercropped with coffee and an apiary.
Before visiting Abenawe, the President visited PDM farmer Tumusiime Desirata in Kizurugo Village, Rubirizi parish who got PDM money in 2023 and now has six pigs and four goats.
He later visited Harriet Ahimbisibwe, a farmer in Ibanda municipality. She got PDM funds in 2022 and now has 21 pigs.
Abenawe revealed that ever since they set up this project it has not only benefited them as their family but also their neighbours too.
Speaking to Radio west, Sheema district Members of Parliament commended President Museveni for his four-acre model farming campaign which they say have helped farmers with small pieces of land in the district to maximise productivity.
Abenawe donated a heifer to the President, while the President pledged to donate a Canter and 10 heifers to Abenawe in a move aimed at improving agricultural productivity.
