Museveni, UN special envoy discuss regional matters

Museveni and Xia also discussed the forthcoming Regional Oversight Mechanism (ROM) summit.

During the Thursday (March 27) meeting, President Museveni, and his guests discussed a number of regional issues, including the situation in Uganda's western neighbour, the Democratic Republic of Congo.

WAKISO - The Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for the Great Lakes Region, Huang Xia, has paid a courtesy call to President Yoweri Museveni at State House Entebbe.

During the Thursday (March 27) meeting, they discussed a number of regional issues, including the situation in Uganda's western neighbour, the Democratic Republic of Congo.



This is according to a statement released by the President's press team (PPU).

Museveni and Xia also discussed the forthcoming Regional Oversight Mechanism (ROM) summit.

The Ugandan President agreed to host this summit, which is slated for May 2025, and said the exact date would be communicated in due course.



The last ROM summit was hosted by President Évariste Ndayishimiye of the Republic of Burundi and the current chair of ROM. 

The summit will discuss a number of issues in the region.
