Mulago doctor charged, remanded over forged medical documents

Prosecution alleges that Ssegujja, David Balondemu, the Kampala District Land Board chairman, and others still at large knowingly and fraudulently made a false document to wit a prescription medical form dated November 7, 2023.

KAMPALA - Hassan Ssegujja, a medical doctor at Mulago Hospital has been charged and remanded for allegedly forging medical documents.

The accused was on Tuesday (February 4, 2025) arraigned before Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi and charged with three counts of forgery and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Prosecution alleges that Ssegujja, David Balondemu, the Kampala District Land Board chairman, and others still at large knowingly and fraudulently made a false document to wit a prescription medical form dated November 7, 2023.

It is also purported that Balondemu, Ssegujja and others knowingly and frequently made a false document of a CT Scan medical form. The form was dated June 12, 2023.

The accused persons also allegedly conspired to commit an offence at Kampala Hospital to forge a medical form.

Viola Tusingwire, the state prosecutor, told court that investigations in the matter are complete, inviting court to slate the case for hearing. 

Ssegujja was remanded till February 17, 2025, for his bail application, whereas hearing of the case will commence on April 2.

Defence lawyers Haruna Male and Kwesiga Apollo are representing the accused.
