Renowned Muslim preacher, who is also the grand mufti of Zimbabwe, Sheikh Ismail ibn Musa Menk aka Mufti Menk is today expected to preside over the Juma prayers at Makerere University Mosque on his third visit to Uganda.

On Saturday, Menk will have a religious and interactive session at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

Menk, a thrilling preacher is admired by many people including non-Muslims because of his liberal and open-minded preaching.

In his last visit to Uganda, Menk appealed to Muslim clerics to shun hate speech, which he said is not only anti-Islamic but also fuels conflict in society.

Although the Islamic religion encourages Muslims to produce as many children as they can, Menk scoffed at spouses who produce many children without the capacity to look after them.

“What do you gain from having many children you cannot care for and support to have a good life? Allah teaches us to have manageable families that we should support and care for to live in happiness,” he said.

Menk also advised the youth to use social media platforms for constructive work such as the creation of jobs instead of using it for gossiping and abusing people.

Born on June 27, 1975, Menk opposes terrorism and has pledged his aid in curbing religious extremism in the Maldives. For example, on March 31, 2018, Menk urged Liberian Muslims to avoid Muslim- Christian violence, arguing that Muslims and Christians are brothers and sisters from one father-Prophet Adam.

Menk, however, blames Western media for misleading the world that Muslims are terrorists.

Menk is also the head of the fatwa department in Zimbabwe. He is ranked among the most 500 influential Muslims in the World by the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought in Jordan.
