Masaka City Woman Member of Parliament Justine Nameere, who was reportedly kidnapped on May 15, 2026, has resurfaced in public.
Speaking at a press conference in Kizungu suburb, Masaka, on Sunday, May 17, 2026, she said she had been picked up by armed men who later released her in the early hours of Saturday.
She narrated that her captors later apologised and offered her a ride to her home in Kigo, Wakiso district.
In her opening remarks on Sunday, she declared support for the candidature of West Budama County South MP Jacob Markson Oboth Oboth, who is vying for the office of Speaker of the 12th Parliament.
Oboth on Saturday said he was ready for the race following his nomination by the Patriotic League of Uganda, chaired by Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces.
Kainerugaba is also the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations.
Oboth was addressing hundreds of supporters at his home in Mukono, where he hosted thanksgiving celebrations following his re-election to Parliament.
Among the guests were top management officials from the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs, senior Uganda People’s Defence Forces officers led by Lt Gen. Sam Okiding, the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, top leaders from the National Resistance Movement Secretariat, and more than 100 Members of Parliament, including outgoing Cabinet ministers.
