Motorsport delegates and stakeholders were left in disarray about the future of the sport after midnight.

This was after Police stormed the assembly held at Silver Springs Hotel to implement a temporary court injunction issued last month by the High Court.

However, Geoffrey Nsamba who had intentions to stand for presidency went to court objecting to the decision of the executive to call the EAGM and also the constitutional review committee to amend the constitution in the elective year.

Nsamba is a former rally driver, a member of the Uganda Motorsports Marshals Association (UMMA), and a rally fan.

As of Saturday midnight, FMU was in a power vacuum without a president after the elections were called off nor the extension of the mandate of the management committee.

FMU president Dipu Ruparelia condemned that act of stopping the AGM.

“The supreme body is the assembly. We can do away with the so-called elders if the sport is to progress. They are burning the house down because they want to come back,” Dipu said referring to the senates.

What next?

Whereas club presidents convened a meeting after that and resolved to extend the assembly by seven days as of article 7.1.5(d) the question is who will chair that meeting since the management mandate expired.

They also instructed that the legal committee apply to the court for a positive injunction for the judge to allow some activities including the extended AGM, Mbarara rally, and the UMOSPOC Autocross that are set to take place before this month's end pending determination of the main suite.

The club presidents also resolved to write to the State Minister for Sports Hon.Peter Ogwang seeking his intervention by setting up an arbitration committee as per the Sports Act.
