OBONGI - The Obongi district security committee has on Friday evicted over 100 heads of cattle owned by two herders.
This eviction, spearheaded by the Resident District Commissioner, is the latest amongst several other evictions undertaken in the district since the issuance of the executive order by the president.
On Monday, September 8, 2025, the security committee led by the Resident District Commissioner, Obongi Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, under executive order No.2 issued by President Museveni, also evicted 37 cows belonging to Christine Mbabazi after retired Col only identified as Lumumba told the security committee that he was the owner of the over 170 cows.
However, an investigation by the security committee discovered that the cows are owned by Mbabazi, who started the process of taking them away.
The other 67 cows evicted on Friday belong to one Fred Buzale.
The RDC consequently handed over the eviction notice to the evictees and directed the UPDF soldiers to provide safe passage until the herds cross up to Karuma dam.
According to the RDC, 370 cows and their six owners had by September 11 been evicted from the district.
Mpimbaza, however, expressed a challenge of connivance between the residents and the animal herders to evade eviction.
“We're committed to executing the directive. For each eviction, we make sure that the UPDF provides escort for them up to Karuma, and after that, they are free to do whatever they want, and we now engage in an intelligence-led operation since the host communities tend to hide them,” said Mpimbaza.
