Police in Kapchorwa have arrested eight suspects in connection with the disappearance and suspected murder of 69-year-old Wilson Matech.
The deceased, a resident of Cheptadan cell, Kwoti ward in East Division, was last seen on March 28, 2025, leaving his first wife’s home. It was initially believed he had gone to his second wife’s house, but he never arrived.
On April 7, 2025, a resident, Mark Kwemboi, discovered Matech’s body in a valley in Tulwo cell, East Division, and alerted the LC1 chairperson.
The deceased’s daughter, Doreen Chemutai, and local leaders reported the matter to police. The body was taken to Kapchorwa Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Police have launched a murder investigation and are working to determine the cause and circumstances of the death. The eight suspects remain in custody as inquiries continue.
