Minister designate Balaamu Barugahara has spoken out on his appointment to Cabinet. President Yoweri Museveni on Thursday announced a cabinet reshuffle dropping five ministers.

"I'm Minister designated, I thank the father of the nation, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for appointing me Minister of State for Gender, Labour and Social Development (Youth and Children Affairs). I also congratulate all the other appointed members of Cabinet," Barugahara posted on social media platform X formerly Twitter moments after a new cabinet list was outed.

"The appointment is a vote of confidence in me on behalf of my first unit, MK Army, the MK Movement now Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Bunyoro, and the patriotic youth of Uganda," he added.

According to Barugahara, it is also an appointment for the art industry (artists and promoters) and the business community of Uganda.

"I exceedingly thank my role model and Uganda's next President, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for identifying, training, mentoring, deploying, and entrusting me to be his Deputy in the whole of Western Uganda. I look forward to working with and supporting the President in his visionary and deliberate efforts towards the socio-economic transformation of the people of Uganda, especially the youth," he said.

The incoming minister pledged to serve Uganda in a patriotic manner, listen to the youth and their concerns, engage with them, mobilise them, and empower them towards bettering themselves and improving their lives.
