"Let the celebration of the Birth of the Son of God, our salvation, take place in our Orthodox Christian hearts, our families, our political rallies, and our polling stations."

Uganda Orthodox Church Archbishop Metropolitan Jeronymos Muzeeyi has prayed for love to prevail amongst Ugandans.

Muzeeyi says that we are living in a more secular world where the mighty is right, inequality in sharing power and resources fuels wars and conflict.

The only solution to this, according to Muzeeyi, is Love: The divine Love made manifest on Christmas Day.

He says every Christian, as a child of God by grace, is called to live fully this unconditional love — Agape (in Greek).

"This is what is expected of us now, especially when Uganda, our motherland, is in a season of political campaign to choose her leaders," Muzeeyi said.

When electing leaders, Metropolitan Muzeeyi asked the electorate to vote for those leaders in their hearts, mind and hands.

"The hands supersedes the other two: The heart and mind, because in this case, it's the one ticking. So let your hand tick wisely," Metropolitan cautioned believers.

This was during the Holy Mass to celebrate Christmas at St Nicholas Cathedral, Namungoona in Wakiso district.

"Let the celebration of the Birth of the Son of God, our salvation, take place in our Orthodox Christian hearts, our families, our political rallies, and our polling stations."

He added that Uganda, our beautiful and fertile country, must become a land of divine love.

Digging into the birth of Jesus Christ, Muzeeyi said He is the ultimate gift that God, the creator of the Universe, gave to the world and through him it may be saved.

During the mass, he was assisted by the Dean of St Nicholas Cathedral, the Rev. Dr. Nicholas Bayego.
