Masindi leaders eulogize Dr Abiriga as a committed and hardworking civil servant

Leaders in Masindi district have eulogized the slain acting district health officer, Dr. Jino Abiriga, as a civil servant who was committed to his work which he did with ultimate diligence.

Masindi District convened a special council sitting at the district headquarters, in honor of Dr Abiriga.

Kassim Kabagonza, the leader of government business raised the motion to honor the late Dr Abiriga, noting that Abiriga was loyal and did his work with transparency, exhibiting great professionalism.

Cosmas Byaruhanga, the Masindi district Chairperson, challenged other health workers to emulate the late Dr. Abiriga’s way of conduct at work, now that he is no more.

Phionah Sanyu, the Chief Administrative Officer Masindi, described Abiriga as a great team player, professional, resilient, and upright technical officer of high integrity.

She said that for the time Abiriga has been the acting DHO, she didn’t have any issues with him to do with accountability.

Several other technical staff and political leaders eulogized Dr Abiriga as a committed civil servant who served his clients with ultimate commitment.

Meanwhile, the burial program for Dr Abiriga has been adjusted from Thursday to Friday Jan 12, 2024. He will be buried at his ancestral home in Tumvia village, Ofude parish, Tara Sub county, Maracha District starting at 10.00am.

Dr Abiriga (53) was murdered and his body recovered on Sunday morning dumped in his neighbors compound in Kijura North cell, central division Masindi Municipality.

He had served as Orthopedic surgeon at Masindi general Hospital since 1999, and was promoted to Acting District Health Officer in 2022.
