COURT | KIIZA | DEFILEMENT
MASINDI - Hosea Kiiza, 54, the headteacher St. Kizito Primary School in Bwijanga sub-county, Masindi district, has been charged and remanded for allegedy defiling two P.7 pupils.
Masindi Grade One Chief Magistrate Kosiya Kasibayo, Tuesday (November 1, 2022), read to Kiiza two counts of aggravated defilement against two pupils from his school.
The prosecution alleges that in June 2022, Kiiza defiled a 15-year-old pupil of St. Kizito Primary School and in September, the same year, defiled a 14-year-old of the same school.
The defiled pupils were all in Primary Seven.
However, Kiiza, who was not allowed to plea on the charges for they are capital in nature and only triable by the High Court, was remanded to Masindi Government Prison until November 8, 2022.
Background
Kiiza was arrested on Sunday, October 30, 2022, after Police were tipped-off by parents of one of the victims.
Kiiza's troubles started after a parent of a 15-year-old defiled pupil, revealed to Police that her daughter told her that the headteacher took her from the school to Kinenabuhere village where she spent a night with him without the parents’ knowledge.
Incriminating evidence
"On interrogation, my daughter confessed that Kiiza had been having sexual intercourse with her. After receiving the report that the headteacher had sexual intercourse with my daughter, I reported the matter to Bwijanga Police post that referred me to Masindi Central Police Station and later, a medical report confirmed that she had had a sexual intercourse," Muganyizi said.
The parents have called for justice to prevail and want court to handle the matter expeditiously.
Speaking to New Vision, a 14-year-old's parent who was allegedly defiled, wants courts to treat the matter with extra care.
"It's embarrassing for the headteacher whom we entrusted with our children to be the one defiling them instead of giving them protection. We pray that justice prevails," Katusiime said.
"We know he was once arrested and released. We don't want that to happen again," Muganyizi said.
Not the first time
In 2009, Kiiza, who was at the time the headteacher of Mihembero Primary School in the same sub-county, was also arrested for allegedly defiling and impregnating four pupils of his school.
He ran into trouble after it emerged that six girls, all minors in his school, were pregnant. Four of the girls, alleged that they were impregnated by him.
Kiiza was charged with aggravated defilement of one of the girls, who was 17-years-old.
Zuhura Ganyana, who was the Police spokesperson for the Midwestern Police by then, said the girl had revealed vital information that roundly implicated Kiiza who was 45 years old at the time.
