Police in Kapchorwa district are investigating the sudden death of 27-year-old Fazil Suwari, who collapsed during physical fitness exercises for recruitment as a special police constable on November 7, 2025.
According to Sipi Region Police spokesperson Fredmark Chesang, Suwari, a resident of Kapnangore village in Amukol subcounty, developed breathing difficulties and excessive sweating after completing a short run around Kapchorwa Central Police Station.
He was rushed to Kapchorwa General Hospital but was pronounced dead at around 7:30 pm.
The body was later taken by relatives without a postmortem examination, as the family and clan leaders insisted that, being Muslim, no autopsy should be performed for religious reasons.
