Major Police operation in Kajjansi area nets 35 suspects over burglary

WAKISO - In response to the growing concerns of increased burglaries and thefts in the Kajjansi Policing Area of Wakiso District, security carried out an operation s conducted in the wee- hours of October 19.

The cordon and search exercise in Kajjansi, covered various locations, including Nakigalala Kifene, Lweza A and B, Kawotto B, and Makandwa-Kijapan, New Vision, online has learnt.

“The operation was a direct response to public outcry regarding a surge in criminal activities in the aforementioned areas. Information provided by concerned citizens pointed to numerous wrongdoers frequenting local bars, using these as meeting places to plan and execute attacks on people's homes during the early hours of the day,” said an operative privy the operation who spoke to New Vision on Thursday.

As a result of this operation, 35 suspects were apprehended, including women. The suspects, who were taken into custody, are as follows:

According to the source, all the suspects have been handed over to authorities and are pending screening, in collaboration with local councils.

New Vision, has since learnt that the Kajjansi Police has initiated multiple public nuisance cases, filed under SD references 02/19/10/2023 and 03/19/10/23.

“These cases represent a comprehensive response to the public's concerns regarding criminal activities,” said the source.

Preliminary Police findings indicate that, “It has become evident that a considerable number of bars in the Kajjansi area operate late into the night and host patrons from various regions. Some of these patrons are suspected of contributing to the rise in criminal activities that threaten community safety.”
