Police in Luuka district is hunting for five men linked to the robbery of sh 98.3m from two homes.

Victims have been identified as 39-year-old Moses Lwokyaza a sugar cane farmer and his father Francis Kudaga a businessman.

The incidents occurred at Bugoba village Budondo parish Bukanga Sub-County in Luuka District.

Micheal Kasadha, the Busoga region spokesperson said according to preliminary investigations the robbery happened on February 29  at around 11:00pm.

Kasadha explained that five unidentified armed assailants three of whom were dressed in army uniform armed with a pistol and AK-47 gun broke into the houses of Lwokyaza and his father Kudaga respectively.

"They beat them up on top of threatening to shoot them dead before robbing them of cash,” Kasadha said.

He added that  Lwokyaza stays approximately one kilometer away from his father's home in the same village.

Kasadha warned people about keeping huge sums of money in their homes.

"Once you transact your business, please ensure you bank money to avoid such cases," he warned.

He also urged the community to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons in the area.

He noted that further investigations are ongoing to have the suspects apprehended.

He noted that this was the first case of aggravated robbery to be reported in the region since the beginning of the year.Last year in December a businesswoman was robbed of sh10m from Nakibizi in Mbiko Buikwe district.
