Lubaga Hospital has registered a reduced number of babies born on the new year 2022 compared to the year 2021.

The Acting head of the maternity ward Carol Nakato has confirmed.

She attributed the reduction of babies to improvement in government health facilities which are cheaper than private health facilities.

“Many mothers now prefer crowding the government facilities since the service delivery is improved amidst cheaper cost of service delivery.

In addition to that some mothers just shunned hospital due to fear of contracting the deadly covid-19 which claimed a lot of lives this year, “she said.

She explained that, unlike last year, this year all the five deliveries conducted are normal with only three girls and two boys.

“Our team worked tirelessly to ensure that our mothers deliver normally and we are happy that we did not record any death or miscourage, “she said

One of the mothers Banny Natukunda said 2022 to her is a year of years because God has gifted her with a new baby.

"I had a lot of contractions which were very painful but little did I know that they were taking me to deliver on the new year, I'm very grateful to God and I pray to God to bless me with more babies," she explained.
