During the Mass, Rev. Father Davis Musiime, the diocesan health secretary for Hoima catholic diocese urged Christians to use this period to change their acts and also reconcile with their enemies.
He also called upon the Christians to have merciful actions towards the people they live with during this period.
Rev. Fr. Tumusiime also emphasised fasting for all Christians except only those with health challenges.
Ash Wednesday is a holy day of prayer and fasting in many Christian denominations and it marks the beginning of six weeks of penitence before Easter.
